Types
Agate is found around the world and comes in a huge variety of colours and patterns. The main value of a stone to collectors is usually in the unique appearance of the individual rock and the way it's been used by the craftsman. Particular styles of agate have been given specific names which relate to their colour, for example moss agate has green flecks and inclusions that look a little like moss growing on the surface. Slices
Agate can, of course, be used as a whole stone. However it's also extremely popular when cut and sliced. This is done so that the flat surfaces reveal the various bands of colour within the stone and the resulting slices make attractive charms and pendants.
