What Is Moonstone?
Moonstone is a type of feldspar sometimes known as hecatolite - Hecate was an ancient goddess associated with the night, the moon and witchcraft.
Properties
The name moonstone comes from the stone's milky white, pearly colour and the way it seems to shimmer in the light. This visual effect is sometimes said to resemble cold fire within ghe stone. Although normally a milky white, moonstone can also be found in grey, pink and yellow varieties - there's even a rainbow version.
Meaning
Traditionally moonstone has been associated with femininity, dreams, intuition and romance. It remains a popular stone with many modern pagans and wiccans, especially in its rainbow variety.

Moonstone is often set with stirling silver in modern jewelry, although you can buy almost any configuration. Popular forms of moonstone jewelry include pendants, earrings and beads.
